What are your rights to working in the UK?

You must be eligible to work in the UK – which means being a British citizen, coming from an EEA country, or obtaining a visa and/or work permit. To find out whether you’re eligible, read our guide on your rights to working in the UK.

What’s the National Living Wage?

The National Living Wage is the minimum amount workers aged 23 and over can be paid in the UK. It’s currently set at £8.91 (as of April 2021), but is reviewed annually. Workers aged 22 and below are still entitled to the National Minimum Wage.

What does your employment contract cover?

There are many different types of employment contracts. However, they should generally cover your employee rights, your employment status, and basic information such as your salary and contracted hours. Are there any questions you shouldn’t be asked at work?

As part of the Equality Act, there are certain protected characteristics which are covered to prevent discrimination.
