Poll: The Great Beard Debate

Poll: The Great Beard Debate

‘You’d suit a beard’…

Facial hair: You either have it or you don’t. For those that do have one, a beard can be an important social statement, representing confidence, determination and virility. Unfortunately, depending on your profession, the decision may not always be up to you.

Certain career choices, Military Personnel for example, require a clean-shaven workforce, although most employers’ facial hair policies will be slightly more relaxed. Whilst previous generations will have religiously wielded their razors for the daily shave, modern man has far less peer-pressure on him to maintain the rigorous routine.

However, ‘The Great Beard Debate’ (definitely a real thing) was reignited recently courtesy of Newsnight host Jeremy Paxman, and his impressive facial fur. After debuting the slightly more rugged look, a Twitter furore ensued, concluding with him accusing the BBC of pognophobia (allowance made for Uncle Albert).

So with the recent media attention the question is, to mimic the question asked by the great Joe Strummer*: Should you shave or should you grow now?
