Students completing the AS Level will complete the following modules:
Unit 1: Markets in action
- Introductory concepts
- Consumer behaviour and demand
- Supply
- Price determination
- Market failure
- Government intervention in markets
Unit 2: Macroeconomic performance and policy
- Measures of economic performance
- Aggregate demand (AD)
- Aggregate supply (AS)
- National income
- Economic growth
- Macroeconomic objectives and policies
Students completing the the Full A Level will complete the above AS modules, and the following:
Unit 3: Business behaviour
- Types and sizes of businesses
- Revenue, costs and profits
- Market structures and contestability
- Labour markets
- Government intervention
Unit 4: Developments in the global economy
- Causes and effects of globalisation
- Trade and the global economy
- Balance of payments, exchange rates and international competitiveness
- Poverty and inequality
- The role of the state in the macroeconomy
- Growth and development in developing, emerging and developed economies
AS Level Exams
There are two exams for the AS Level qualification. The length of each exam is as follows:
Paper 1 – 1 hour 45 min
Paper 2 – 1 hour 45 min
A Level Exams
There are four exams for the full A Level qualification. The length of each exam is as follows:
Paper 1 – 1 hour 45 min
Paper 2 – 1 hour 45 min
Paper 3 – 2 hours
Paper 4 – 2 hours
Requirements
It is recommended that students should be educated to GCSE Grade C or equivalent and have a reasonable standard of literacy. You have the freedom to start the course at any time and continue your studies at your own pace for a period of up to 24 months from initial registration with the full support of your Tutor.
