AAT Level 4 Professional Diploma in Accounting:

This AAT Level 4 professional course is a higher-level qualification in accounting. Upon successful completion, and meeting the AAT’s work experience requirements which we will provide you with our training plan alongside your level 4 training, you can apply for full AAT membership and attain the professional status of AAT Accountant once you have also completed all of the AAT assessments.

This course blends online study with in-person classroom sessions, offering flexibility for students for their AAT exams.

The qualification covers advanced accounting tasks, such as preparing financial statements, managing budgets, and analysing financial performance. It also includes a selection of optional specialist units.

Upon completion, you will receive the AAT Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting, a globally recognised qualification that proves you are a fully qualified accountant. This certification is ideal for those already working in accounting or those aspiring to pursue a career in accountancy, as it equips students with the practical knowledge and expertise highly valued by employers along side our practical training which will guarantee your employment.

The Level 4 course includes key areas of study such as:

FREE Work Experience in Bookkeeping and VAT Returns (Sage 50/ QuickBooks/ Xero)

This will be learnt alongside your AAT Level 4 training (Sage 50, QuickBooks, Xero) programme provides hands-on training in bookkeeping principles and VAT compliance using leading accounting software. Participants will learn how to set up companies using various VAT schemes, including the Standard VAT Scheme, Cash Accounting Scheme, Flat Rate Scheme, and Marginal VAT Scheme.

The programme covers choosing and customising the chart of accounts, understanding double-entry bookkeeping, and modifying nominal ledgers and codes. Practical skills include maintaining sales and purchase ledgers, setting up customer and supplier accounts, processing invoices and credit notes, and generating reports for customer and supplier transactions. Additionally, participants will learn how to generate aged debtors and aged creditors reports for credit control purposes.

Special focus is given to CIS deductions, reverse charge VAT, identifying and correcting errors, and allocating cash, bank, and supplier payments against invoices. The training also includes bank and petty cash reconciliations, calculating VAT for businesses with mixed zero-rated and standard-rated sales, and preparing, reconciling, and submitting VAT returns to HMRC.

Participants will gain insight into VAT registration and deregistration, VAT periods and tax points, handling HMRC queries, and dealing with imports, exports, and acquisitions. The programme also covers VAT fuel scale charges, Cash VAT and Flat Rate VAT schemes, and provides a deeper understanding of various VAT schemes, deadlines, and penalties to ensure compliance with HMRC regulations.

FREE Work Experience in Payroll and HMRC Reports (Sage Payroll)

With your AAT Level 4 you will also have a programme which provides a comprehensive introduction to payroll processing and UK tax regulations. Participants will learn payroll basics, including backing up and restoring data, configuring company settings, and understanding UK legislation related to payroll. The programme covers essential topics such as registering as an employer, understanding the Pay As You Earn (PAYE) system, NIC classes and rates, and income tax bands.

Practical skills include adding employees to payroll software, creating pay elements, processing employee payments, and generating payslips and pre-update reports. Participants will gain insight into departments and employee analysis, statutory payments such as Statutory Sick Pay (SSP), Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP), and Statutory Paternity Pay (SPP), as well as recording absences and updating payroll records for leavers and joiners.

Additionally, the programme covers payment processing via BACS, year-end procedures, printing and issuing payslips, and submitting Real-Time Information (RTI) reports, including Full Payment Submission (FPS) and Employer Payment Summary (EPS). Participants will also learn how to submit PAYE to HMRC and issue essential documents such as P45s for departing employees and P60s at the end of each tax year.
