Underwriting Analyst: About the role
My client are looking for a Junior Actuary to join their team, the main focus will be to provide timely statistical support to the company’s underwriting function in relation to product performance and pricing. You will assist in ensuring that the required underwriting standards are being adhered to and be keen to develop a technical underwriting knowledge of Extended Warranty and associated Consumer products business. You will also assist in developing improved use of I.T. systems for both underwriting and reporting purposes.
Underwriting Analyst: Core duties
To provide statistical support to the company’s underwriting function, identifying trends to enable underwriters to imposing terms and conditions to achieve or maintain required individual programme performance.
Modelling of insurance key performance indicators.
Development and improvement of insurance models and related MI.
Liaison with Operations to improve information flows from IT systems.
Modelling and presentation of data to the Capacity Providing Partners.
Review and analysis of new business proposals and feedback to Underwriters.
Production of monthly underwriting performance reports.
Deliver and improve upon current service levels.
Underwriting Analyst: Key requirements
Proficient in use of MS Office package particularly Access and Excel.
Advanced modelling skills with an excellent ability to collate and analyse data.
Communication and relationship building.
High level of attention to detail.
Ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team.
Knowledge and understanding of the basic principles of insurance and reinsurance.
Business Analyst experience
At least 5 A-C Grade GCSE’s including English, Maths and ICT, desirably Graduate Degree and/or Insurance qualifications e.g. CII Outcome focused, self-motivated, enthusiastic Team worker with the ability to work on own initiative, with a professional approach to relationships
