Overview

Any business conducting guarding activity to secure a building or site may need trained security staff qualified as security officers who hold an SIA licence.

From October 2021, security guards will need to complete top-up training before they renew their licence.

This Level 2 Award for Security Officers in the Private Security Industry (Top-Up) course is based on the relevant SIA specification for learning and qualifications and is supported by Skills for Security, the standards-setting body for the security industry and the SIA, who regulate the private security industry.

Topics include covered in this Level 2 Award for Door Supervisors in the Private Security Industry (Top-Up) course include:
• terror threats and the role of the security operative in the event of a threat;
• minimising risk to personal safety;
• actions to take in relation to global (or critical) incidents.

2 hours is the duration for classroom delivery. Delegates would have to complete online learning must be completed prior to the classroom session.

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered.
