The Legal Practice Awareness Level 3 course consists of seven structured lectures, followed by an assessment and final exam, each addressing key areas of legal practice knowledge and professional awareness.
The course begins with advanced legal skills, introducing legal research techniques, complex legal writing and drafting, advocacy and oral communication, and negotiation and alternative dispute resolution. These skills are examined conceptually to support academic understanding rather than professional practice.
Business law and practice explore company law, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property law, and employment law. Learners examine how legal frameworks support commercial activity and organisational compliance.
Advanced criminal litigation introduces criminal procedure, sentencing principles, advocacy awareness, white-collar crime, fraud, and criminal appeals. This section focuses on understanding legal processes rather than conducting litigation.
Commercial law and practice examine contracts, banking and finance law, property transactions, insolvency, and bankruptcy, providing insight into commercial legal environments and transactional awareness.
Advanced family law and practice explore complex divorce, financial settlements, child care proceedings, international family law issues, and alternative dispute resolution within family law contexts.
Professional conduct and regulation focus on ethical awareness, solicitors’ accounts principles, the role of the SRA handbook, client care, professional responsibility, and anti-money laundering compliance, without implying regulatory approval or licence.
Clinical legal education and practice introduce awareness of law clinics, work-based learning concepts, reflective practice, ethics, and client interviewing and advising skills, presented for educational understanding only.
Upon successful completion of the Legal Practice Awareness Level 3 course, learners receive a free digital certificate provided by Reed confirming course completion. A provider-issued certificate is also available following verification, with optional premium certificates and academic transcripts available separately.
