The ten units that all learners must complete to gain this qualification are:

  • Develop and implement the health and safety policy
  • Develop and implement effective communication systems for health and safety information
  • Develop and maintain individual and organisational competence in health and safety matters
  • Identify, assess and control health and safety risks
  • Develop and implement proactive monitoring systems for health and safety
  • Develop and implement active monitoring systems for health and safety
  • Develop and implement health and safety emergency response systems and procedures
  • Develop and implement health and safety review systems
  • Maintain knowledge of improvements to influence health and safety practice

Progression

Learners completing the Diploma Health and Safety Level 6 can progress onto:

  • Level 7 Diploma
  • Applying for an appropriate membership level with IOSH and/or IIRSM at Graduate/Full Member grade

Assessment and verification

All units within this qualification are internally assessed and externally verified by the awarding body. The qualifications are criterion referenced, based on the achievement of all the specified learning outcomes.

To achieve a ‘pass’ for a unit, learners must provide evidence to demonstrate that they have fulfilled all the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all assessment criteria.

Hi there, learners will need access to someone who can conduct the workplace observations with them. This needs to be someone suitably qualified (L6OHS, NEBOSH, IOSH etc) or someone with a large number of years experience within the sector. This observer will sign off the witness statement forms to validate the observations have taken place.
