Description

The course begins by introducing trading itself – the concepts, basic terminology used, psychological elements, core trading strategies, asset classes, and broker choice considerations.

You’ll explore the basics of fundamental analysis – looking at economic indicators, the news, and quantitative fundamentals, and how to perform fundamental analysis on companies.

It’s then on to technical analysis. You’ll begin with reading a chart, candlestick basics, and support and resistance, before moving onto trading indicators – covering common signals, patterns, the importance of trading volume, and moving averages. Finally, we’ll look into advanced charting techniques – learning about the Average Directional Index (ADX) and Relative Strength Index (RSI).

We’ll explore how to manage money and accurately assess risk and reward. We’ll also compare trading with investing and consider their core differences, pros, and cons.

The course rounds out with a look at the basics and strategies of investing. We’ll consider the way to view and create a portfolio with a focus on diversification and asset classes, and how to go about setting investment goals. We’ll then look at the six key strategies of investing, splitting these into two categories – index funds and individual stocks and securities.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
