Functional skills English level 2 is a GCSE English equivalent that enhances employment prospects but also enables learners to gain access on to further and higher education courses.

Online Functional Skills English Exam

Our functional skills English level 2 qualification is an online exam that you can take at home. We offer flexible booking times so that you can take your exam during the day, evenings or even at a weekend if required. MME is committed to offering the cheapest online functional skills English level exam available.

Study Hours

It takes around 45 hours of study to complete this course but this time can be reduced if you are actively studying English or have previously prepared for a functional skills exam.

Course Materials

The MME course materials are freely available for all students to access. This gives you a full topic list of what is in the exam, revision notes to learn from, practise questions and even exam style questions to get you ready for test day. We even have a full online mock that you can take to make sure you are comfortable with the online set up. Finally as part of your course, we will provide 1 full mock paper with marked and detailed feedback from a qualified examiner.

Assessment

The level 2 English exam is 2 hours long for the reading and writing exam. You select the day you want to take the exam and then at the specified time an invigilator will send you an exam link via email. You open the exam link and the invigilator will talk you through the instructions, it is very straight forward. The speaking, listening and communicating exam is then sat a week later and takes less than an hour to complete.

Results

After the exam, if you are successful, a formal qualification will be awarded. This qualification can be used to gain access on to further education courses or to help applications to specific jobs. You will receive your results via email and then a certificate shortly after this.

These will usually be the low cost course and exam adverts. Hi Mark Our one to one learners usually charge £30 per session but through once booked into our exams service this support is reduced to £25 per session. A session lasts an hour and is delivered via video link, so is 1-2-1 in real time and as a result the lessons cover a lot of ground in a short period of time. On average learners have around 4 lessons in total before passing their level 2 English, so an additional £100 on top of the course and exam fee.

The tuition is charged at £25 per session to those signed up to our exam. On average people tend to opt for 3-4 lessons so you can add £75 to £100 to the cost of the advertised price if you decide to opt for tuition. The tutors are qualified and experienced functional skills teachers and tuition always occurs on a one to one basis.

Hi Zahid The pass mark changes depending on the difficulty of the paper, so if it is a hard paper the pass mark will drop, if it is an easy paper the pass mark goes up. For the speaking and listening component of the exam, there is a set of criteria you have to meet in order to pass, this criteria is outlined in the guidance that is given when you prepare for this part of the exam.
