Overview

Our 1-day First Line Management course is consistently one of our most popular courses. It is intended specifically for those individuals who are new to a management position or who are about to be promoted into a managerial role and have had no formal management training.

The course syllabus covers a wide range of topics, knowledge and skills that are essential for managers to be successful. It includes units on effective communication, managing your team, managing yourself, delegating, setting objectives, effective planning and personal development.

Effective Communication Skills

  • Why, how, what and when to communicate
  • Designing effective questioning techniques and actively listening to others
  • Setting and managing expectations clearly
  • Adapting to different and contrasting communication styles

Module 3

Managing Yourself

  • Using tools and techniques to assist with planning
  • Dealing with time stealers and interruptions
  • Recognising performance management and feedback conversations
  • Effective and productive delegation of work to others
  • Understand how to manage your own emotions in tough situations
  • Plan and prepare before strategic conversations with your team or stakeholders

Module 4

Managing Your Team

  • Understanding various management styles and how to use each one
  • Setting expectations

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered.
