Overview

The PRINCE2 Practitioner is the second of two levels of certification in the PRINCE2 methodology. It builds upon the foundational knowledge needed to start a career in project management and readies the student to start applying the methodology in real life projects.

Those who have gained their PRINCE2 Foundation certification will have gained a working understanding of the PRINCE2 methodology and the terminology that is associated with it. The PRINCE2 Practitioner course will enhance that foundational knowledge and prepare you to apply what you have learned in a more senior project management role.

Many UK organisations favour PRINCE2 as their project management methodology of choice, as do increasingly more international organisations. PRINCE2’s popularity is owed to its ability to be tailored to a project’s specific requirements, as well as being effective in organisations of any size and scale.

Possessing the full PRINCE2 certifications can lead to exponential opportunities in your project management career and this PRINCE2 Practitioner training course will provide you with the information you need to start your career as a Project Manager.

Certification

PRINCE2® Practitioner

Description

PRINCE2® is like a recipe book for project management: just like a recipe book provides step-by-step instructions for preparing a dish, PRINCE2® provides a structured framework for managing projects. It helps ensure that all the necessary steps are followed and the project is completed successfully in a linear manner from the first to the last step.

The PRINCE2® Practitioner is different to PRINCE2® Foundation because it doesn’t just give you the recipe for successful project management, but it teaches you how to practically implement it. Despite its fixed structure, PRINCE2® can be tailored to accommodate a project of any size or type and it demonstrates how you can break complex projects into manageable and controllable steps. If you manage change projects or hope to do so, PRINCE2® is an asset to have in your arsenal!

Remember that in order to sit the Practitioner exam, you must have successfully completed the Foundation exam and obtained the PRINCE2 Foundation certificate. Possessing both of these PRINCE2 certifications will prove your understanding of the PRINCE2 methodology and your ability to lead PRINCE2 projects.

FAQs

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
