The Level 3 Award in Supporting Teaching and Learning is a nationally recognised qualification which has been designed to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working with children or young people in Primary, Secondary or Special Education Needs schools.
This qualification provides learners with an understanding of the knowledge needed when working directly with children and young people in a school or college environment. It will enable learners to gain an understanding of elements including children and young people’s development and safeguarding their welfare. It is suitable for learners who are not yet working in a Level 3 school or college role but are able to achieve at this level. It is also suitable as initial training.
The course is comprised of 4 units where you will learn about key areas such as children and young people’s development, safeguarding, and supporting those with disabilities or special educational needs.

The course will take approximately 80 hours to complete. Students will receive a full year to complete the course, which is a lot more time than you will need. This allows you to work at your own pace, without the pressure of tight deadlines.
You will study this course by distance learning, which will enable you to learn when and where you want. All of the materials are available to you on our online learning platform. You will also receive tutor support by email.
The online learning platform is designed to make your learning time as effective and constructive as possible. It is also designed to accommodate students who find on-site training hard to access and you can fit it around other commitments such as your family, job and holidays.
In order to successfully complete the course, students are required to compile a portfolio of evidence which demonstrates their learning against each of the assessment criteria of the course.
At the end of this course successful learners will receive a CACHE Level 3 Award in Supporting Teaching and Learning. The course carries 12 credits.
CACHE is a specialist awarding organisation for the children and adult care sectors. CACHE continue to develop the most up to date and relevant qualifications for the new RQF and work closely with Sector Skills Councils to ensure the highest level of quality and a cutting-edge service to their customers, our learners, and the sector.

This qualification provides the underpinning knowledge to work in a variety of job roles that support children and young people’s learning in schools or colleges. Roles this qualification will provide the underpinning knowledge for include:
• Teaching Assistant
• Learning Support Assistant
• Special Needs Assistant.
