The Estates Management Accountant role reports to the Head of Estates in London. The role will require candidates to produce accounts and report to budget holders.

The client is an Estates department within a progressive and very well recognised organisation. The client has a huge turnover and is looking for an immediately available candidate for a temporary to permanent role.

Description

The Estates management acoountant role will involve the following responsibilities:

  • Preparation of the annual budget end to end, including the communication to all relevant stakeholders
  • Quarterly forecast updates to actual revenue/capital income and expenditure with variances compared to budget analysis and written commentary
  • Monthly Management Reports on key financial information and other performance indicators with accompanying analysis - specifically on planned and reactive maintenance projects.
  • Day to day management of the Estates Capital Programme, providing support to Estates management and providing analysis on the programme performance.
  • Day to day management of the Estates staffing establishment, ensuring that all recruitment is currently within budget and that posts id are maintained/controlled.
  • Regular meetings with ELT, EMT and Budget Holders, acting as the first contact for financial support and training
  • Preparation of the annual budget end to end, including the communication to all relevant stakeholders
  • Quarterly forecast updates to actual income and expenditure with variance compared to budget analysis and written commentary
  • Preparation of journals for the posting of adjustments, internal transfers and other corrections to the general ledger
  • Monitoring departmental account balances
  • Setting up of new accounts in line with activity and VAT category
  • Regular liaison with Professional Services Finance and Financial Control and Analysis to provide reports and updates on key financial information including Capital cash-flow forecasts and depreciation schedules
  • Invoicing in accordance with the terms of agreement, primarily for Capital Income
  • Understanding and application of VAT issues in liaison with Taxation & Commercial Accounting, Financial Accounting
  • Understanding and application of accounting for Fixed Assets in liaison with Financial Accounting
  • Liaison representative with Internal and External Audit

Profile

To successfully apply for the Estates Management Accountant role candidates must have the following experience:

  • Have prepared budgets for an Estates department/ Estates function
  • Have excellent working knowledge of Estates
  • Have worked with the day to day management of an Estates Capital Programme
  • Have experience producing reports
  • Have experience meeting with budget holders
  • Should be available immediately or on one weeks notice
  • Have excellent communication skills and confidence liaising internally
  • Be able to travel into Central London
