Karen asked:

I would like to buy this course for my son for his DofE awardf. If I buy it in my name - can he get the certificate in his name?

Hi Karen Yes this course has been used for DofE in the past. The certificate is issued in the name of the student. There are no restrictions as to who that is. You can buy this on our website or here on reed. Kind regards

Claire asked:

I’m looking to become a legal secretary would this be the right type of touch typing course?

To become a Legal Secretary, you will need touch typing skills. So this course is ideal for gaining these skills. It has trained many legal secretaries. However, I recommend you also consider taking Souters CPD accredited Legal Secretary Course. This can be taken online or in classroom sessions in London. You need these skills to understand how a legal office works and how best to produce legal forms, letters and documents. Any doubts contact us and speak to course consultant.

This was helpful. Thank you for your feedback.

Sue asked:

What type of keyboard is needed for the typing course? Can I use my laptop keyboard or do I need to buy a keyboard with raised keys?

It is better to buy a standard UK QWERTY keyboard as used normally with a PC; you can source these online quite reasonably

This was helpful. Thank you for your feedback.

Cath asked:

My son is also looking at doing this for his DofE award. Could you tell me how many hours /week this will take if done over a 3 month period please?

Dear Cath Thank you for contacting Souters regarding this course. Typing is a physical skill that requires practice, practice, and more practice. It is a skill that can be learnt on a self-taught basis, and so your son can dictate his pace of learning. Nevertheless, we recommend training of at least one hour on a daily basis over a 3 month period if study is taken on a remote basis. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any further questions. Regards Souters' Course Administration

Joe Wallace asked:

I am interested in doing this course for the DofE award, is it possible that the tutor could be the assessor and write a short report at the end.

The course is an online interactive training system where you have the opportunity to complete monitored tests, there is no live tutor; we can confirm course status to the DofE scheme at the end of the course, but we will need your information as to the link on the website and your enrollment number.

This was helpful. Thank you for your feedback.

jg asked:

Is this course entirely online, or will I have to go to a centre in the City at some time?

Thank you for your question. The course is entirely online.

This was helpful. Thank you for your feedback.

Susan asked:

Is your online interactive touch typing course for £89 subject to a £100 non-refundable deposit as per your t&cs

The £89.00 becomes non-refundable as soon as you access the training software. The £100.00 rule does not apply to a course of lesser value. Before you access the software you have 14 days to change your mind and get a full refund.

This was helpful. Thank you for your feedback.

Cathy asked:

Do you have any work books etc with the course? And how quick can it be completed in. ? How do you get the certificate at the end?

Dear Cathy Your workbook is an e-workbook. The course can be completed at your pace that is, the more time you devote to the training, the quicker you will finish. You need to take a test in order to be certificated. I hope this makes it clearer to you. Regards Souters

What is a ‘regulated qualification’?

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

What is an ‘endorsed’ course?

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body’s logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as ABC Awards and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
