Our online manual handling training course covers:

  • Important definitions such as hazard, hazardous event, harm and risk
  • Key legal requirements, including the Management of health and safety at work regulations 1999
  • The risk assessment process, based on a five step approach: identify the hazards, identify who might be harmed and how, evaluate the risk and decide your control options, record and implement your control options, review and update your risk assessment
  • Deciding on precautions, including: the principles of prevention and the hierarchy of control options
  • An explanation of both quantitative and quantitative risk assessments
  • Where to find further (free) information

The course also includes templates for conducting quantitative risk assessments and qualitative risk assessments, which you may download and use.
