Description

Most of us have clutter, whether it’s too many toys taking over the living room, wardrobes crammed with clothes we don’t wear or an office space that looks more like a half-finished papier-mâché project than a workspace. This is where the role of the professional declutterer comes in.

The Professional Decluttering and Organising Business Diploma Course will guide you through applying effective decluttering methods and creating storage solutions (including 2 video demonstrations). However, the primary purpose of this course is to show you how to make a business out of your skills and passion for organisation.

Upon successful completion of this course you will:

  • Know what it means to be a professional declutterer and understand the skillset required
  • Understand how to legally set up as a professional declutterer
  • Have the tools to create and execute an effective marketing plan
  • Know how to budget for your business
  • Be able to define exactly how you will work with clients
  • Be clear on what should be included in a client assessment visit
  • Be able to judge the length and cost of a decluttering project
  • Know what forms need to be included in your administrative toolbox
  • Have a clear knowledge of the different and most useful decluttering systems for both residential and business clients

You may already understand the role of a professional declutterer or you may not have known it was a possible career choice. The Professional Decluttering and Organising Business Diploma Course begins by clearing up what it is to embody the role, the skillset required and even the pros and cons of the business. You’ll discover how clients can come to need a declutterer’s services and gain an insight into the difference between “normal” clutter and a hoarding issue, which should be treated differently.

To set up a business there are certain fundamentals that you need to be aware of and practices that you should follow to be successful. This course talks you through each of these, such as how to register as a business, understand your tax liabilities, the insurance types you’ll need as a professional declutterer and organiser and the rules on data protection. You’ll understand the importance of creating a business plan, how to manage budgets and cash flow, and learn about some of the organisations you can join as a professional declutterer.

It takes more than just a solid business plan and the ability to be a great professional declutterer to get your business off the ground. You need clients, and to gain clients you need to put time (and where possible, money) into marketing your business. The Professional Decluttering and Organising Business Diploma Course will guide you through creating your business’ branding and marketing plan, which includes how to work out who your audience is, what the components of a good marketing plan are, how to organise a marketing budget and how to perform a SWOT analysis.

Part of your marketing plan will include deciding on the marketing tactics that you will use. This course explains the various tools you can use to give your business the exposure it needs and how to select the ones that will work for you. You will also learn how to create a marketing calendar and the importance of monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of your marketing efforts.

With your planning in place, another important step to take is to define your business, as it may not be totally clear to a prospective client what you will be doing for them. The Professional Decluttering and Organising Business Diploma Course guides you through how to define your relationship with your clients and identifies some of the issues that you may come across in this. You’ll also learn how to judge the length and cost of a project, what to incorporate in an assessment visit, and how to maintain a client relationship after the initial job has come to an end.

As a professional declutterer, you will need to develop documents and forms that will help you to keep on top of your administrative duties and create clarity between you and your client. This course talks you through the typical paperwork that you will need to use, as well as the physical tools that you will find useful in your work. The course also includes video content – guiding you through various storage solutions that you can advise clients to use and that you can adapt for specific client needs.

Along with business and marketing considerations, the Professional Decluttering and Organising Business Diploma Course talks you through the practical methods and “decluttering systems” that you can implement to create order and structure for clients. You’ll be taken through how to assess a client’s situation, the solutions they need, and how to plan and implement these solutions. You will also learn how to help clients who have difficulty decluttering. The course includes an easy-to-consume video that guides you through implementing decluttering systems.

As a professional declutter you may wish to work specifically with business clients or even add this to your home-decluttering services. The needs of business clients are different, as it is a different kind clutter that accumulates. This course guides you the various methods that will need to use if you are to work with businesses and on how to minimise paper in an office environment – a big problem in both home and big business offices.

Who is this course for?

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
