The key aims of this module address the way healthcare workers develop an awareness of the risks of providing a public service, dealing with conflict and having an understanding of what is available to support you effectively and safely.
The learning objectives included in this module are aligned to the Skills for Health framework.
There are occasions when staff in the healthcare sector can experience verbal and physically abusive behaviour from service users, other staff or visitors.
At the end of the module, you should able to:
- Describe the common causes of conflict and identify the different stages of conflict
- Understand the impact that cultural differences may have in relation to communication
- Understand the importance of keeping a safe distance in conflict situations
- Explain the use of "reasonable force" as described in law and its limitations and requirements
