The NEBOSH Diploma course is divided into four units, each of which is assessed separately.
Delegates may choose to take individual units in any order over a five year period and will be awarded a unit certificate for each unit passed.
The RoSPA Mentoring Package gives candidates access to a RoSPA tutor on a one-to-one basis throughout their registration period. For more details see the Why RoSPA? section below.
Unit A: Managing Health and Safety
Course content

- A7 Human factors

Assessment
Taught over 10 days (two five-day blocks), with the option of a two day revision course.
Assessed by one three hour written examination. All questions are compulsory and papers are marked by external NEBOSH appointed examiners.
Unit B: Hazardous Agents in the Workplace

- B3 Hazardous substances and other chemicals - engineering controls and personal protective equipment
- B4 Monitoring and measuring
- B5 Biological agents

Unit C: Workplace and Work Equipment
Course content
- C1 General workplace issues

- C6 Work equipment (workplace machinery)
- C7 Work equipment (mobile, lifting and access)
- C8 Electrical safety and Electricity at Work Regulations 1989
- C9 Construction hazards and controls
- C10 Workplace transport and driving for work
- C11 Pressure system hazards and controls
Assessment

Unit D: Application of Health and Safety Theory and Practice
- Candidates are required to use the knowledge gleaned in the above units to make a detailed review of the health and safety performance of a workplace and produce a justified action plan to improve performance. The expected length of the assignment is around 8,000 words. The level of work should be that expected of a competent occupational health and safety practitioner working within an organisation.
