Overview

The NEBOSH National Certificate in Environmental Management has been designed to provide an introduction to the fundamentals of Environmental Management and will provide candidates from all sectors of industry with a good solid understanding of Environmental Management principles.

Description

The NEBOSH Certificate in Environmental Management consists of two units; each separately assessed:

Unit EC1: Management and control of:

• Environmental hazards

• Foundations in environmental management

• Environmental management systems

• Environmental impact assessments

• Control of emissions to air

• Control of contamination of water sources

• Control of waste and land use

• Sources and use of energy and energy efficiency

• Control of environmental noise

• Planning for and dealing with environmental emergencies

• Assessed by a 2 hour written exam

Unit EC2: Environmental Practical Application:

• Assessed by a 2 hour practical assessment, undertaken in your workplace

Who is this course for?

Managers, supervisors and employees, who have responsibility for managing environment issues as part of their day to day duties.

Requirements

Unit EC1 is a taught unit assessed by a two-hour written examination. The examination consists of ten ‘short-answer’ questions and one ‘long-answer’ question. All questions are compulsory. Candidate scripts are marked by external examiners appointed by NEBOSH.

Unit EC2 requires the candidate to carry out an environmental review of a workplace or organisation and produce a justified action plan to improve performance. This practical application must be completed and returned to the course provider by a date determined by them and normally within 10 working day of the exam.
