Adding Organisational Value 1: Techniques - 30 credits

This module will prepare you for undertaking the research at Masters level and work-based project elements of the course with a focus on project management and advanced research techniques. There is no workplace project in this module.

Contemporary Strategy - 30 credits

A core strand of contemporary strategy is innovation, particularly in a digital context, and this module will help enable you to understand and apply innovation methodology to specific organisations. As part of this module you will explore contemporary strategic thinking and the role that innovation has played in the success of high growth organisations.

Purposeful Leadership and Management - 30 credits

Leadership is a personal journey and not necessarily reflective of an individual’s position in an organisation. This module will enable you to personally reflect on your authenticity as a manager and a leader and develop techniques to improve your effectiveness in this area. Linked to this primary aim, the module will require you to consider the concept of purpose at both an individual and organisational level.

Special emphasis will be given to interpersonal excellence skills as a leader, manager and team player and building contemporary communication skills, particularly through the use of technology, to help further develop engaging and persuasive style.

Finance, Technology and Risk Management - 30 credits

This module will teach you the contemporary skills required of mangers and future leaders, in three inter-linked areas which are crucial to the sustainability and competitive advantage of successful organisations. In particular you will develop a risk-based approach to operations and strategy, a financial fluency and a conceptual understanding of forms of technology that will underpin business over the next decade i.e. blockchain technology and artificial intelligence.

Change Management and Digital Transformation - 30 credits

During this module you will learn to develop the capacity and knowledge to effect meaningful change in an organisation, focusing on the substance of digital transformation within organisations. Both macro (organisation) and micro (individual) levels of change will be covered, with special emphasis given to the human aspect of change and digital transformation. Through the use of case studies and workplace projects, you will learn how to lead change through your actions and devise change management plans best suited for your organisation.

Adding Organisational Value 2: Major Project - 30 credits

This module is the culmination of the Masters programme and will enable you to demonstrate your ability to design and carry out a self-directed piece of research-based work that directly contributes to the strategic objectives of your specific organisation.

This module allows you to independently identify organisational, industrial or consumer-based issues that require a substantial level of structured research activity in order to draw significant conclusions/recommendations, in the form of a research project. The module will allow you to contextualise real life problems and opportunities, applying the knowledge, skills and understanding to address the selected issue.
