Level 6 Graduate Diploma in health and social care management equip individuals with underpinning knowledge, understanding and skills for success in employment in the health & social care sector at senior management levels. Graduate Diploma allows learners to demonstrate their skills by producing evidence from their work activities, to meet national occupational standards. Learners will acquire care management skills in health and social care sector.
The primary aim of this programme is to explore the key concepts of professional and ethical practice, care delivery, care management and personal and professional development. Learners of this programme will be able to develop academic and professional practice in the delivery of helping services within health and social care.
EBMA Level 6 Graduate Diploma in Health and Social Care Management provides Continuous Professional Development to working professionals where learners study EBMA qualifications with work and produce results in assignments and examinations.
Learners will acquire knowledge of applications and in-depth analysis in health and social care as well as management of health care issues. Graduates may gain employment within the health and social sectors as managers with management responsibility or interest. Careers may also develop in the areas of general hospital administration, quality assurance management, health care coordination, or case management.
At the end of the course, a graduate is expected to be able to:
- Identify the characteristics of management control systems.
- evaluate management control systems for strategic planning and development in the health or social care organisation
- Evaluate the controls systems in the health or social care organisation.
- Understand groups, types and theories and practice in social work.
- Understand psychological ideas, strategic approaches, and levels of change of circular causality in social care practice.
- Evaluate a range of ideas about change and their relevance to social work practice.
- Identify ethical and character-based principles approaches social work practice
- Understand professionalism and codes of ethics in social work practice
- Understand social workers’ responsibilities including policies, procedures and managerialism and be able to understand ethical problems and dilemmas in practice in social work.
- Understand key aspects, skills and approaches to counselling for health professionals
- Identify main approaches and models of counselling (including mentoring/coaching).
- Identify ethical issues to the working relationship between counsellor and client.
- Identify features of good research design in the health or social care and then apply research techniques, collect and analyse data to complete a research project in the health or social
Qualification
Description
The overall structure of the course is based on five modules that cover a number of topics relating to learning outcomes. Each module is equivalent to 24 credits and at the end of the course, learners will be able to achieve 120 credits.
Module 1: Management Control in Health and Social Care
The primary aim of this unit is to familiarise learner with the concepts and application in health and social care organisations of management control systems.
Module 2: Principles of Social Work Practice
This course aims to examine and develop, at an advanced level, the practical knowledge and skills required to be a social worker within a continuum of health care contexts. Learners will get knowledge of different applications of value and ethical dimensions of social work practice with diverse populations are examined and illustrated throughout this unit.
Module 3: Ethics and Values in Social Work Practice
This course aims deepen learners understanding of the philosophical basis of good practice in social work, and to enhance their ability to think systematically about the moral issues that they may face in the workplace.
Module 4: Counselling Skills and Theory in Health and Social Care
This course enables learners to develop counselling skills that can be applied in their present or potential work settings. The course aims to enable participants:- to gain a fuller understanding of self, and of self in relationships; to describe the values, concepts, skills and approaches of counselling for health professionals; to apply counselling approaches in their own helping context; and to become a more effective helper through the use of counselling skills.
Module 5: Research Project including Research Methods
This course aims to introduce learners to the principles and practice of a range of research designs used in health and social sciences. Learners will be able to identify the most appropriate designs for different research questions, design a study to answer a specific research question and critically appraise the work of others.
Qualification Credits and Duration
Level 6 Graduate Diploma in Health and Social Care Management can be achieved in 6 to 12 months and learners will achieve 120 credits.

Assessment Methods
Assessment methods include only assignments. There is no exam in this course. You will be required to submit an assignment for each unit of a minimum of 1000-2500 words in length to pass the unit and to achieve unit credits.
Results and Certificate
Learners must complete four units successfully and achieve 120 credits before the qualification certificate and final transcript are issued by the awarding body.
Note - Assessment Fees
The assessment cost of the qualification is £400, payable at the beginning of the course or in £100/month for four months.

There are no entry requirements for this course. However, we expect learners to have a computer/laptop/tablet to study this course with us.
Career path
Learners completing the Level 6 Diploma in Health and Social Care Management will allow progress to Level 7 Diploma in Health and Social Care Management or directly into employment in an associated profession.

Is this course recognised by any university? if yes which ones ? can this course be done in 6 months ?
Answer:It is the only qualification at the higher level since the end of 2010 when there was no course in HSC after Level 3 in 2010. It is fully approved & can be completed in six months.
