This course is completed online over 9 – 12 months on our online portal. Throughout this Level 3 Residential Childcare course, you will be assessed via written assignments, work product evidence, professional discussions, witness testimonies, and observation.
This qualification is a requirement for individuals working in children's homes under the new regulations introduced in April 2015. It has replaced the Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce (Social Care Pathway). All new employees must be enrolled in the Residential Childcare qualification.
The qualification focuses on developing the necessary knowledge and skills for working with children and young people in residential childcare settings, including understanding child and young person development. It equips learners with essential skills and knowledge to support children and young people in these settings, covering areas such as well-being, resilience, positive relationships, safety, sexual exploitation, communication, positive behaviour, and positive outcomes.
This course will meet your Ofsted requirements for looking after children in a children's home in semi-independent living or a residential home for children.
The Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (England) is specifically designed for learners wanting to work in residential care with children in a care role. New residential care workers will need to achieve the qualification within two years of employment.
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however, candidates should have a job secured as a Support worker in a childcare setting and should be at least 18 years of age to begin this Level 3 Residential Childcare Course.
On completion of this Level 3 Residential Childcare Course, candidates will be able to work as a support worker in a residential childcare setting. You may be able to work in supported living accommodations, semi-independent living, children's residential homes and boarding schools.
