Overview
Food borne illness can be very serious, especially for those who are vulnerable, groups such as the very young, older people or those with illnesses.
Food retailers cover many sales outlets, from shops to garages or those selling hot foods such as takeaways. All have the same basic challenges, that is, receiving in the food, perhaps from a central manufacturer or preparation source, but then keeping it in perfect condition for sale. This cannot be achieved unless food retail workers have a thorough grounding in the principles of food safety, food storage and hygiene.
This level 2 course is accepted as the essential standard for all who have the occasion to handle food for retail.
