The Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young People’s Workforce is aimed at those who work in a supporting role as a nursery nurse, crèche worker or special educational needs assistants.
The Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young People’s Workforce aims to assess the development of the skills and knowledge relating to the children and young people’s workforce and will provide progression to the Early Learning and Childcare Social care and Learning Development and Support Services. The Qualification covers the age range from birth to 19.
The course is accredited by Focus Awards, who are regulated by the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (Ofqual) in England. The Qualifications and Credit Framework is a system for recognising skills and qualifications at a national level by awarding credit for qualifications, and for smaller individual learning outcomes (or “units”), which can be “banked” to make up a larger or more inclusive accreditation. It is a very flexible system, which allows learners to gain qualifications at their own pace, and through routes such as distance learning which suit their own personal circumstances. QCF enables courses, qualifications and accreditation obtained by students in a wide variety of subject areas to be effectively “benchmarked” or measured against diverse and otherwise unrelated subjects according to difficulty and quantity of study time required. In this way, achievements can be recognised and rewarded through the award of credits and qualifications at a nationally recognised level, regardless of the subject matter studied.
The Qualifications and Credit Framework provides a mechanism for individual units, which can be thought of as the building blocks of all qualifications, to be aggregated and combined into a formal, nationally recognised certification scheme. The units are accrued in a centralised databank and then “released” at predetermined levels to deliver a qualification to the student.
The Level 2 Certificate in Children and Young Peoples Workforce (QCF) course has no entry requirements, other than personal motivation, desire and a genuine interest in the subject matter. As long as you also have a good general standard of education, you will gain immense benefit from it. You should be aware that once you progress into an environment, or organisation that involves access to children, you may be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (previously known as CRB) check.
