Description

The Learning Disability Awareness course aims to build on your understanding of what it means to have a learning disability and your experience in this area of work. The course will suggest lots of ideas about how you can help to support people with learning disabilities.

The course is suitable for staff working in a variety of settings. It will be useful whether you are employed in a health or social care, a community or an education setting or whether you work in a paid or voluntary role. The effect of learning disabilities throughout the lifespan is considered, but there is a particular emphasis on children, adolescents, and young adults.

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
