Overview
This programme is designed for people who work in or wish to work in the field of Human Resource administration and management; and who wish to gain a braod understanding of HR principles, practice and the legisative framewrk.
The objectives of the course are to:
- Develop a broad understanding of the principles of HR administration & management
- Learn techniques and good practice for Human Resource administration
- Select a modular approach to study which provides opportunities to specialise
- Prepare for studying CIPD qualifications
- Extend their existing HR knowledge and experience
- Gain a recognised award from a leading UK awarding body
Description
The course is designed for home study or distance learning and is comprised of comprehensive printed course notes presented in an A4 ring binder, together with course assignments and study guide. Tutor support and a student helpline facility are integral to the course, and students have a full 12 months in which to complete their studies. Actual study time will be of the order of 150 hours.
The course is divided up into nine study units, each with one tutor marked assignment to be completed. The certifiate is awarded based upon completion of FIVE units, and students choose which five they wish to study.
Each assignment contains approx 8-10 written tasks to be completed which are then submitted to a subject tutor for marking. Where required assignments can be re-submitted after amendment in the event that the assessment standards are not full met on first submission.

Who is this course for?
The course is designed for anyone in a variety of roles and industry sectors whose job has some responsibility for Human Resource management or administration. It would suit generalists with HR responsibilities as well as people looking to take up a specialist HR role in recruitment, industrial relations or training and development. The elective nature of the nine units permits students to select five units which mirror their interests and/or job responsibilities.
Requirements
There are no study pre-requirements as the course is intended for learners who have not studied this topic beforehand.
Career path
The course would suit anyone with HR responsibilities whether in a generalist role, or taking up a specialist HR role in any of the related HR disciplines.
