The Adults' Management pathway of this qualification is for managers and owners of Domiciliary Care Services, Day Care services, and other similar services. Learners are supported to study units that enable them to successfully prepare for and undergo CQC Regulation and Inspections.

Vocational Skills Centre offers the Adults' Management pathway, of the HABC Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People's Services (England) (QCF), which is a 90-credit qualification for managers and aspiring managers in a range of non-residential care settings, such as domiciliary care, or day care, or other community-based services, and those starting a non-residential care business.

The Adults' Management pathway of this qualification is recognised for CQC Registered Manager status.

The learner is will study for the full 90-Credit qualification. Most learners study 20 units. The payment flexibility enable learners to pay the full qualification fees over 20 monthly instalments, without having to take out a big loan.

• Knowledge, competence, and skills for a Registered Care Manager - You will gain knowledge, competence, and skills required of a care manager, in line with current National Occupational Standards (NOC) and current legislation. Once your fully completed portfolio of evidence passes External Quality Assurance from the Awarding Body, you will also be awarded the full Diploma.
• Learn how CQC Regulates and Inspects your care setting - you will gain knowledge and understanding of how CQC Regulates and inspects your care setting; how to interpret and implement CQC requirements; what evidence you are expected to provide during CQC inspections, what other evidence CQC will collect and use, what inspectors look for, and how they judge what they see, read, smell, and hear etc.
• Develop Higher Level Learning, Thinking, and Analytical Skills - You will develop your Learning, Thinking and Analytical Skills to a Higher Level, as required for a manager performing at Level 5 and above. You will also learn how to critically evaluate issues and situations, and improve your decision-making.
• Learn modern ways of working, collaborating, and managing - You will learn modern way of working and collaborating. You will learn how to use technology to communicate, share information, work with, and manage a team or an organisation. You will pick up skills that will enable you manage and supervise a dispersed team, and how to support remote teams, and virtual teams. While studying with us, you will also learn about document management, what is acceptable, and what is not, in terms of compliance.

The Adults' Management pathway, of the HABC Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People's Services (England) (QCF), is suitable for learners who have management responsibility in a range of other settings that are not residential such as domiciliary care services or day care services. This pathway enables the learner gain Registered Manager status with the CQC.

The HABC Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People's Services (England) (QCF) has been accredited by the regulators of England (Ofqual) and is part of the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). QAN (Qualification Accreditation Number) is 601/4265/0. It is supported by Skills for Care, the Sector Skills Council for occupations in social care.

This accredited qualification is awarded by Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance (HABC).

This qualification is a nationally recognised qualification and is based on the Health and Social Care National Occupational Standards (NOS). It confirms knowledge, understanding, skills and competence in management and advanced practice within health and social care and children and young people's services and serves as the required qualification for registration and regulatory requirements in the sector where appropriate in England. This qualification replaces the previous Level 4 NVQ in Leadership and Management for Care Services, the Level 4 NVQ in Health and Social Care. It also replaces the previous 80 credits QCF Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People.

Usual job roles for those working towards this qualification include: Managers or Assistant managers of residential services; Senior Care workers preparing for management roles; Day service managers or assistant managers, Domiciliary services Managers or Assistant managers, Managers of community based services; and all those aspiring to those job roles or similar roles

Programme Content - What you will study

Learners must achieve a total of 90 credits to complete the qualification, including six (6) mandatory units, and a range of optional units. Optional Units are based on the pathway chosen by the learner. Domiciliary Care Managers are supported to choose units that equip them for CQC Regulation and Inspection.

The Rules of Combination for this Pathway are:

All six units in mandatory group A totalling 30 credits, and these units are:

1 - Use and develop systems that promote communication

2 - Promote professional development

3 - Champion equality, diversity and inclusion

4 - Develop health and safety and risk management policies, procedures and practices in health and social care or children and young people's settings

5 - Work in partnership in health and social care or children and young people's settings

6 - Undertake a research project within services for health and social care or children and young people young people's settings

And minimum of 60 credits from the remaining groups, including;

All 33 credits from mandatory core group F1; and these units are:

66 - Manage health and social care practice to ensure positive outcomes for individuals

67 - Safeguarding and protection of vulnerable adults

69 - Understand safeguarding of children and young people for those working in the adult sector

70 - Lead person centred practice

11 - Lead and manage a team within a health and social care or children and young people's setting

12 - Develop professional supervision practice in health and social care or children and young people's work settings

71 - Assess the individual in a health and social care setting

And Adults' Management Optional Management Group F2 - Learners must achieve a minimum of 12 credits from this group; such as:

14 - Develop procedures and practice to respond to concerns and complaints

15 - Recruitment and selection within health and social care or children and young people's settings

17 - Facilitate coaching and mentoring of practitioners in health and social care or children and young people's settings

18 - Manage induction in health and social care or children and young people's settings

21 - Manage finance within own area of responsibility in health and social care or children and young people's setting

And Adults' Management - Optional Knowledge Group F3; - Learners must achieve a minimum of 1 credit and maximum of 6 credits from this group.

Training and Assessment: Learners receive training through blended learning which includes distance learning, face-to-face support visits, email support, and telephone support and resources as required.

Assessments involve a variety of assessment methods including: observation of work-based performance, written and oral questioning, professional discussion, work-based evidence, witness testimony, personal statements and more. Your trainer/assessor will assist you in producing a portfolio of evidence that provides evidence of your knowledge and performance.

How long does it take - Duration of the course

Flexible duration. You can complete as fast as you want. Many learners can complete the course within 20 months by completing 1 unit a month. But, if you complete two unit a month, you will be able to complete 20 units in 10 months.

If your circumstances change we can extend the duration and support you to complete your learning, so long as you have paid your all course fees.

What certificates do you get when you complete your course? On full completion of this qualification, the learner will receive the full Certificate issued by Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance (HABC).

If a learner does not complete the minimum number of credits required by Awarding Body for the full qualification in order to award Full Certification by Awarding Body, then the learner will be issued Certificate of Achievement by Vocational Skills Centre for any completed units.

This qualification is delivered at Level 5 and learners must expect to perform at Level 5 and at an appropriate level of a Manager.

Learners must be able to use an internet-enabled computer or laptop to upload and submit evidence to their e-Portfolio, attend live training events and tutorials.

Learners should be employed in a suitable role within the health and social care or children and young people's sector. Those not in such roles could volunteer for managerial or supervisory tasks to evidence their skills and competence

Learners should have Level 2 in English literacy and numeracy (or equivalent).

Learners who have previously achieved a level 3 qualification in a related area, will find it easier to cope with the studies

Completion of the qualification makes the learner eligible to gain Registered Manager status by the CQC, work as a Registered Manager in a Care Setting or health facility for adults, or to own a care business, including a domiciliary care agency. You can further progress to Regional/Operations Manager, to manage a group of care settings.

Staff earnings range from £32,000 yearly, up to £55,000 pa.
