Our modules will encourage you to consider ways of understanding language learning processes, and expand your awareness of the approaches and principles, models and pedagogies, alongside policies that support or influence successful English Language Teaching (ELT) across a range of local, national and international contexts.

While not a teaching qualification, our MA Education (Teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages) is designed to meet the interests of novice through to experienced teachers in English as a Second Language (ESL), English as Foreign Language (EFL), those in teaching international students or non-native speakers of English within the local community through to private or state schools.
This pathway will:
- Provide you with a strong, theoretical and practical foundation of a range of applied classroom methods, cross-cultural considerations and touching on areas such as applied linguistics.
- Encourage you to consider ways of understanding language processes.
- Expand your awareness of different approaches, models, pedagogies and policies that influence English Language Teaching (ELT)

Interactive and practical learning

Requirements
You will usually need to be currently working within the education arena and have either:
- a good undergraduate degree (2:2 or above)
- an equivalent level 6 qualification (equivalent overseas qualifications which will be verified by NARIC)
- a level 5 teaching qualification plus evidence of five years’ teaching experience within an institution may be considered
You will be asked to provide a CV/resume detailing your academic and work experience. The Admissions Tutor reserves the right to interview an individual to ascertain the relevance of their work and life experiences as an acceptable entry for the programme.
