Alessandro Menchelli asked:
Hello, How is the exam structured ?
The my exam is correct by classmate? And vice versa ?
Thanks for attention
Sorry, I had bad experience
Answer:
Hi,
All SIA exams at all training centres are run the same way.
You do exam papers which are multiple choice. The papers are sealed and sent to the exam board to be marked, not by us. Other students are not allowed to see your exam papers.
We have a high pass rate as we prepare our students thoroughly. Come and try a day for free!
You can work in the UK in any security position where you might be in contact with the public -
EG. Offices, Pubs, Museums, Shops, Building Sites, Nightclubs, Music Venues, Corporate, Airports, Universities…..
Hi my friend little vory because his English is not very good?
Answer:
Hi Tomasz,
The course requires Level 2 English. The exams are multiple choice so do not require any writing. If you put 'SIA mock exams' into a search engine you will see how the exams look. If your friend can read the questions then they should be ok.
I have a current SIA license that expires 2021, do I need to bring the other requirements as I want to do the Door Supervisors course
Answer:
Danny,
Do you currently have a Security Officer Licence and want to do a Door Supervisor course?
You might be exempt from a part of the training if you have your original certificate from 2018. If you did the training in 2015 or before it would not be recognised to give you any exemption on the DS course.
There is a shortage of staff across the industry generally, but especially for female staff.
Most companies are looking to employ 50% female staff but currently have a lot less so new female staff are in great demand.
Also many people believe that women tend to have better communication skills and are better at defusing conflict.
Courses start on March 12, April 9, April 30, May 21.
They last four days from Monday to Thursday.
Course dates are guaranteed to run!
In 13 years we have never cancelled one.
Hi,
The short answer is No!
The SIA stipulate that the training must be a MINIMUM of 4 days face to face contact. Anything less would not be recognised and prevent you from getting an SIA licence.
In April 2021 the SIA are changing this to 7 days minimum contact so I would do the training as soon as possible!
Nicola, No it's not online. The SIA never allow a full DS course to be done online because there has to be a physical assessment. (It's quite low key and gentle!)
Dean,
We are hopeful that permission will be granted to resume the training by the start of August. Please contact us next week when we should know more details.
Edited July 31st 2020 We are now open again for training!
And when these on-line courses at door supervisor are possible
Answer:
Hi,
The online courses will definitely not include Door Supervisor unfortunately. This is because of the physical training. It is not possible to conduct and assess this online. This is a decision made by the SIA so there is no way around it for any training company!
Hi, At the moment (May 2020) the SIA and awarding bodies are not allowing any classroom security training. Hopefully this will change in the next month or two.
When classroom training does resume, Door Supervisor will need to be approved specifically because about 25% of the course is physical and social distancing would not be possible. The SIA will not remove this part of the training so it will be some time yet before it resumes.
Hi, We are not currently (May 2020) able to run any courses. The SIA and awarding bodies are not allowing any classroom teaching at all at present.
Soon we might be able to offer an online version of the CCTV operator and Security Officer courses. However, the SIA is quite clear that this will not include Door Supervisor training as the Physical Intervention cannot be done without practical training.
How are the courses run with the coved-19 lockdown at the moment many thanks
Answer:
Hi, We are not currently (27/05/20) running any courses. The SIA and awarding bodies are not currently allowing any Door Supervisor training for safety reasons.
In the near future it might be possible to do CCTV and Security Officer remotely. This would involve students being taught at home by webinar sessions. We are currently looking into this.
It's 4 days at present. We are in Tottenham, North London.
On April 1st the SIA are changing the course to being one day of First Aid and 6 days of security training, obviously making a total of 7 days. Costs will rise to almost double to reflect this.
We have one more course before this longer and more expensive version begins. It starts on March 2nd.
They can register for the course, but will have to provide the standard SIA requirements for ID documents which includes proof of (a UK) address when they attend the actual course.
Helloo is the course included the SIA license or the training only? thank you.
Answer:
The training does not include the cost of the SIA licence.
You pay the SIA direct for the licence after you have qualified. No training company can do this for you.
we are recruitment consultant but want to know if we can be sending people to you and for your training
Answer:
Daniel,
Apologies about the delayed response. I have been abroad.
Yes, we would be happy to work with you. There are many training companies around but we work with some of the UK's premier organisations. In the next few weeks we are providing training for Canary Wharf, The Old Bailey and the British Museum.
Please contact me to discuss.
I am a security officer in Nigeria and based in Nigeria. Am I qualified to apply?
Answer:
To take part in the course you would need ID including proof of address in the UK so not immediately.
The SIA will do background checks before issuing a licence this would include checking the right to work in the UK.
Looking to complete course over 2 weekends. Is this possible?
Answer:
Unfortunately this is not possible to run for one person, our courses are from Monday to Thursday.
If you are from a company with a minimum of 6 people and have facilities to hold the training then we could do it.
I have been 2times and i failed on examps
Is this online course and dose it have a guranty to pass?
Answer:
The SIA does not allow online courses. All exams are conducted in the classroom with an independent invigilator and then marked by the awarding body.
This is the same for all training companies.
There can never be a guarantee to pass. It would be fraud.
We do have very high pass rates because our trainers are amongst the most experienced in the industry. I would suggest coming to do the first day of training for free and paying if you are happy to complete the course with us
I’m looking at this course for my daughter she what’s her sis badge does this include this
Answer:
Hi Cheryl,
Training companies cannot charge someone for an SIA badge. Only the SIA can charge for this. The fee they charge is £220.
When you pay a training company it is for the training itself and should also include the exams and certificate.
Some companies do add on for exams and VAT. We do not.
Brianne,
Women are able to work right across the industry but there is a shortage of female staff, so it's an ideal career move especially for females.

Hello! After with course what are rhe chances of hiring? With this course we have priority or depends on the cababilities of each learner?
Answer:
Hi,
We are not an employer but security companies do ask us to recommend some people to them.
Very few people are still looking for work after a month as there are many vacancies in the industry.
Hi Tommy,
The cost is for the training including certificate. The actual 3 year licence costs £220 and all trainees have to pay the SIA directly for this in the Post Office. Training companies cannot charge for it.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.
An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
