Summary
Overview
Much of language development occurs well before children are even able to use language. Once children begin to acquire language, their growth is accelerated because of the close link between language and cognition. While each child has a unique developmental path, language development has more similarities than differences. While children may reach different stages of language development at different times, the progression through those stages remains relatively stable. This course will focus on the developmental milestones in a child's life from birth until age five with each period including a general overview of development and detail regarding the linguistic development.
