Module 1 – Communication and Positive Relationships
- Establish a fair, respectful, trusting, supportive and constructive with children and young people.
- Demonstrate the positive values, attitudes and behaviour that is expected from children and young people
- Develop communication in an effective and sensitive manner with children, young people, colleagues, parents and carers.
Module 2 – Maintaining Communication with Children, Young People and Adults
- Demonstrate a commitment to work in a collaborative and co-operative manner with colleagues
- Direct the work of other adults, where relevant, in order to support learning
Module 3 – Curriculum, Planning and Assessment
- Know how statutory and non-statutory frameworks for the school curriculum relate to the age and ability range of the learners they support
- Understand the objectives, content and intended result for the learning activities in which they are involved
- Know how to support learners to access the curriculum in accordance with the Special Educational Needs (SEN) code of practice and disabilities legislation.
- Understand how other frameworks that support the development and wellbeing of children and young people impact upon their practice.
Module 4 – Assessment, Monitoring, Feedback andRecording
- Use their area(s) of expertise to contribute when planning and preparing learning activities
- Plan their role in learning activities with the use of their area(s) of expertise
- Devise activities that have a clear structure and which would interest and motivate learners and advance their learning.
- Plan how they will support the inclusion of children and young people in the learning activities.
- Organise and manage learning activities in ways where the safety of the learners is ensured
Module 5 – Child Development
- Evidence to support your knowledge and use of ICT to support professional activities
- Identify that you hold the necessary professional qualifications
Module 6 – Motivating Children and Young People
- Advance learning when required to work with individuals
- Advance learning when required to work with small groups
- Advance learning when required to work with whole classes in the absence of the assigned teacher
