You’ll work closely with our designers and developers to build and maintain modern WordPress sites using the Gutenberg block editor. The role involves translating design files into clean, responsive front-end builds, extending WordPress with custom post types and theme logic, and ensuring a high level of consistency and performance across projects.Responsibilities for the Web DeveloperBuild and update responsive Gutenberg pages from Adobe or Figma designsWork within established design systems, templates, and block librariesCreate and maintain custom post types, templates, and basic plugin functionalityExtend and refine existing WordPress themes using core PHPWrite and compile styles using SASS, ensuring clean, maintainable CSS outputTweak and test layouts for responsiveness and cross-browser consistencyOptimise images, handle metadata, and ensure accessibility compliancePerform QA checks across multiple devices and browsersManage updates in Git and follow internal workflowsRequired skills for the Web DeveloperStrong understanding of the WordPress Gutenberg editor and WordPress core conceptsProficient in HTML, CSS/SASS, and basic ES6 JavaScriptWorking knowledge of PHP for WordPress theme and plugin developmentExperience creating and managing custom post types and taxonomiesConfident working from detailed design specifications in Adobe and FigmaAble to debug layout, styling, and template issues efficientlyFamiliarity with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar) to enhance coding efficiency and problem-solvingNice to have for the Web DeveloperFamiliarity with theme json and modern WordPress themingUnderstanding of SEO and accessibility fundamentalsExperience with Git branching and version control best practicesBasic experience using NPM (Node Package Manager) and Node Version Manager (NVM) for managing build tools and dependenciesExposure to MySQL, including writing simple queries for data retrieval or debuggingProfilefor the Web DeveloperYou’re a technically capable developer who takes pride in building things properly.
