Person: It is essential that the candidates have experience at First Line Manager/Team Leader level within Transport. Experience of managing teams. Retail / Food Distribution experience is an advantage.
Role: To maximise the performance of the Transport operation being responsible for the management of the Transport teams activities to ensure that resources are planned and managed effectively. Provide leadership, motivation, training and development of the workforce, executing against customer requirements and operational performance.
Responsible for the health, safety and welfare of all colleagues within a team.
Manage the Transport function on a shift basis to achieve effective and efficient operations with excellent standards of service. Provide efficiency and performance through outstanding people management skills. Focus on areas such as development and engagement of department team Management of a Transport operation on a shift by shift basis, ensuring strong decision making to deliver efficient and effective service
Build and motivate the team, including recruitment, performance management and ongoing team development
Responsible for the control of Health & Safety, ensuring that all procedures are adhered to
Manage resources for the Transport operation to deliver its objectives Ensure adherence to all transport compliance and regulatory legal compliance
Complete all reports as requested by the General Manager, management team and Customer in a professional and timely manner
Support the resolution of specific performance issues or complaints regarding service levels from the customer or other areas
Identify opportunities for improved efficiencies within the operation, recommending and implementing changes.
Lead a team and optimise day-to-day performance, including colleague briefings and debriefings so that business targets are met or exceeded.
Lead and support the Team in creating and delivering great communications to provide everyone with a two way information flow.
Produce accurate daily and weekly KPI's ensuring they are distributed on time Monitor resource and deployment of resource where required, including seasonal planning Responsible for KPI targets in a team to ensure a cost efficient and service focused department Create a culture of engagement and inclusion within the operation and across the site
Support a continuous improvement programme to increase efficient and effective working practices within the department
Utilise first choice methodologies to support continuous improvement Identify opportunities for improved efficiencies within the operation, recommending and implementing change.
