This well-established Gastro Pub and restaurant is seeking a competent Head Chef who is motivated and a real passion for food. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years’ experience as a Head Chef. This gastro pub is set in the beautiful Essex countryside and is conveniently accessible from Colchester, Braintree and Chelmsford. This establishment has a 60 cover restaurant and a small outside seating area for the summer.
The restaurant serves seasonal food with great service, whilst retaining a traditional pub atmosphere. The style is traditional British cuisine with everything made in-house. The kitchen makes the most of the fresh local produce available with particular attention to food provenance, and are always busy.
The pub is very much the focal point of the community and also hosts a full calendar of events and functions throughout the year, and also has a particularly strong Sunday lunch trade.
As the successful Head Chef you will be responsible for all menu planning, stock taking and training. You must be passionate about your role and be willing to give 110%. The ideal Head Chef will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience working at Head Chef level in a fresh food establishment; you will be responsible for high levels of hygiene control and health and safety throughout the department; you will be responsible for staff development and ensuring high levels of catering service and you will be reporting directly into the line manager. Head Chef must be highly passionate, excellent food cost controls and the ability to continually raise standards.
