General Manager Opportunity, New Opening, £32,000 Package on offer, Hertfordshire

At Select Hospitality Cambridge we are recruiting on behalf of one of our most successful clients in the area, for a General Manager to be involved in the opening of their newest site. This role would be perfect for an experienced industry professional with a big personality and a strong background in traditional real ale, wet led businesses.

The business will be serving traditional fresh home cooked food and British classics with flare, using fresh and locally sourced ingredients as much as possible, alongside a large and varied wet offer. Their service meets a wide clientele market, and their quirky, stylish food options suit a variety of taste. Therefore, if you are passionate about service, real ales, and traditional food and want to join a company with personality and style, then this could be a the ideal next move for you!

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing 1.6 million operation and become a key representative within a leading Hospitality Group.

The venue is looking to be operational by Spring, and they are looking to recruit the senior staff in asap to be trained and involved in the offer from the start. The company are known for their delicious cuisine, creative cocktail menu, casual coffee bar and exceptional, memorable service. My client would be extremely keen to receive applications from relevant candidates who are local to Hertfordshire, willing to relocate or based in and around the London area.

Key Role Responsibilities:
- Manage and control your team, both front of house & back of house with a 'hands on' approach
- Improve, build and develop sales/ KPIs/ Marketing/ P&L/ Targets within the business, cooperating with the management team
- Complete and analyse regular reports, HR duties, rotas, appraisals and schedules
- Create a fantastic, luxury and relaxed customer service, and ensure all is being done to achieve this
- Oversee all areas of the business and encourage drive/ motivation within the team
- Ensure all food and drink is being served to the highest quality
- Open and lock up the business regularly as and when required, and keep property maintenance to a high standard
- Recruit for the business, ensuring company standards and procedures are met and finding stand out candidates
- Training, developing and monitoring the entire team
- Addressing and solving problems
- Liaising and negotiating with contractors and suppliers
- Managing, implementing and complying with H&S, License and Employment Laws etc.
- Be a professional and strong role model within the team, and representing the company in the best possible way
- Market the company and organise various successful events
- Network and grow the venues reputation

Desirable Skills:
- Previous management experience within casual dining environments
- Understanding and experience within high volume hospitality environments
- Excellent knowledge of wet led businesses with an emphasis on real ale
- Proven track record in achieving and meeting successful targets and figures
- Passionate and enthusiastic about the Hospitality Industry, and being successful
- A love for cocktails, cool bars, restaurants and experience in this
- Ability to lead, train and build a strong and successful front of house/ back of house team
- Previous experience in working on GP, P&L and KPIs within a business
- Fantastic customer service, at all times
- A large personality, who can connect with all types of people and build strong relationships
- Easy going and a great team player, able to get a long with everyone in the team as well as manage them
- Knowledge and experience in marketing, promotion and running events
- Understanding and training in various laws and H&S
- Personal License Qualification
- Management Degree or very strong experience within the industry as a Manager
- Own transport and driving license
