An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly motivated Health Visitor or School Nurse with a Practice Teacher qualification or an experienced Health Visitor /School Nurse willing to undertake the Practice Teacher course with the prospect of filling the role of Deputy Team Leader/Practice Teacher. The post is based in Helensburgh and covers the Helensburgh and Lochside area of Argyll and Bute.

The Deputy Team Leader is responsible for the operational delivery, practice development, mentorship and training of student Health Visitors and School Nurses. The post holder is also appointed as health GIRFEC Advisor for the Helensburgh area.

The team is an integrated children’s’ team with Health Visitors, School Nurses, Staff Nurses (Schools), Primary Mental Health Nurses and Nursery Nurses.

It is a requirement of the post to have a minimum of three years active Health Visiting or School Nursing experience and a willingness to undertake the practice teacher qualification. The role involves training and developing student Health Visitors, deputising for the Team Leader as required, managing a caseload and working with colleagues as part of the wider multiagency GIRFEC adviser group.

Advanced communication skills, well developed risk assessment skills and excellent organisational skills are essential together with evidence of continued professional development and previous supervision responsibility. With excellent interpersonal and communication skills you will be able to demonstrate evidence of change management and the ability to work with partner agencies to support transformational change across Children's Services. Evidence of continual professional development and post registration education is required.

You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various locations within Argyll & Bute.
