Overview

This course will give you all the principles needed to condition athletes. You will learn how to effectively analyse sporting movements, design skill development programmes, devise conditioning programmes and be able to layer all this information into a periodised overview.

You will be able work with fitness professionals to increase their strength and speed (power) and develop sports specific training approaches for individual sporting disciplines.

This course offers enormous potential for fitness professionals to enter into a new and rapidly expanding field of strength and sports conditioning coaching.

Description

What will I learn?

The human physiology and biomechanics taught on this course will enable you to increase the sporting performance of your clients by analysing the requirements of different sports on different areas of the body in terms of energy demands, power, speed, endurance, flexibility and agility and matching this to body movement and a planned skill development programme for improving movement quality. You will also learn how to develop an exercise plan which will include sports specific and non sports specific training.

FORMAT

How long is the course?

This is a 2 day course that will take place on a Monday and Tuesday. Learners doing this course will join the 5 day Strength & Sports Conditioning course during the first 2 days.

Learners are able to enrol onto this course at our West London venue.

ASSESSMENT

What assessments will I need to complete?

Learners will complete a case study based on a sporting discipline.

What support will I get?

Once booked on to the course learners will be given access to the student zone so they can familiarise themselves with the syllabus, they will also given the contact details for our student support team who will assist them with any problems outside of the classroom, and our in house tutors will be there to support you on the day of your course.

Requirements

To be eligible to sit this course students will need to already hold a REPs approved Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training.

Learners who successfully complete the course will receive a YMCA Awards Level 3 Award in Sports Conditioning (16 REPs points).

Yes, the Awarding Organisation for this course is YMCA Awards. This means that this course is recognised throughout the UK and your REP’s insurance will cover you to teach this subject.
