  • Unit 2 – Signs and symptoms of stress – This unit will take a look at some of the most common signs of stress that individuals may experience. It considers what some of the physical and emotional signs may be as well as those which affect behaviour both in and out of the workplace.
There are two case studies at the end of the unit to highlight the impact that signs and symptoms of stress can have.
  • Unit 3 – Common causes of stress – This unit considers what some of the most common causes of stress are both in and out of the workplace.
It enables consideration of the fact that stress is a personal experience for individuals and that whilst one person may consider something to be the source of stress, this may be very different for others.
  • Unit 4 – Assessing support – This unit is about how to access support within an organisation and how employees are supported whilst in work and how they are supported to return to work if they have to take a period of sick absence due to stress. The unit considers the importance of one-to-one meetings with managers and how employees can be supported to stay well within the workplace.
  • Unit 5 – Reducing work-related stress – In this unit you will consider how workplace stress can be reduced and what kind of strategies can be put into place to achieve this. You will consider the importance of supporting staff who may be undergoing stress and working out what the causes of stress are so that these can be reduced or eliminated where possible. The unit also examines how future stresses can be avoided and how this can be monitored within the workplace.
  • Unit 6 – Reasonable adjustments – This unit considers the kinds of reasonable adjustments that organisations can make so that their employees are able to work safely without detriment to their mental or physical well-being that can be caused by workplace stress. Many different reasonable adjustments are described in relation to the benefits that they may bring to employees.
  • Unit 7 – Health and safety for mental health – This unit considers the importance of health and safety in the workplace, by looking at the policies that employers should have in relation to mental health and well-being and how risk assessments should be carried out to ensure that all employees are safe. • Unit 8 – Reasonable adjustments – This final unit examines how employees can sustain a healthy lifestyle including how to eat healthily and how much they should exercise. It considers the negative impacts of drugs and alcohol and how lack of sleep can impact an employee’s ability to function at an adequate capacity and how sleeping can be improved.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
