Level 3 Award in Education and Training (RQF)

Regulated by Ofqual

Description

The TQUK Level 3 Award in Education and Training (RQF) is a new qualification which replaces the Level 3 and 4 Awards in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS).

The purpose of the qualification in the RQF is to ‘prepare for employment in a specific occupational area’.

You will complete the following units:

Unit 1 – Understanding Roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training (3 credits)

This is the mandatory unit for the course, where you will learn about your role as a teacher in lifelong learning. It is the foundation of the course and will give you all the knowledge you need to be effective as a teacher in lifelong learning.

Unit 2 – Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training (6 credits)

This unit is a mixture of knowledge and practical and will give you the understanding you need to be able to understand the various learning and teaching strategies and methods. You will also learn about equality and diversity and their importance. You will also learn about planning an inclusive session, using inclusive approaches and assessment methods. You will have the opportunity to plan and deliver a short lesson as part of your micro-teach.

Unit 6 – Understanding the principles and practices of assessment (3 credits)

This unit is about assessment and will teach you everything you need to know about it. If in the future you decide to become an Assessor, having completed this unit you will get an exemption for unit 1 of the Assessor course.

Course Delivery:

  • The course is delivered online through our cutting edge online portal
  • Our professionally written course materials will teach and guide you step by step
  • You will have dedicated Assessor who will provide support and assess your work

Assessment Method:

  • You will be assessed through a series of questions to assess your knowledge
  • Unit 2 will be assessed through you practically delivering a micro-teach session where you will be observed by your Assessor

Note: There is certificate fee of £35 payable upon completion

Kris Godden asked:

I have seen a few different completion times for this course. Some even state 48 hours. In reality how long will it take?

Answer:

Hi Kris, Those advertising 48hrs will definitely be just where they deliver teaching sessions, but after that you are then left on your own to complete your portfolio, like completing your assignments and putting your evidence together so you can send them to assess once you complete. Realistically the average completion time is 3 months, but we have learners who completed in one month or less as they really needed the certificate for their job, so they worked on their assignments everyday.

saira Afeefa Iqbal asked:

is this the Initial Teaching Qualification? After gaining this qualification would i be classed as a Teacher? (not QTS obviously).

Answer:

Hello Saira, Yes this is the initial teaching qualification and upon completion you are classed as a Trainer or Teacher for 16 year old and above. If you want to teach children in schools then the qualification you would need to do is supporting teaching and learning in schools, which we offer as well through REED. Thank you

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
