Description

Study Hours

It takes around 610 hours to complete this course. This is about an hour a day over the course duration.

Study Method

Throughout this course, you may be expected to complete assignments, essays, research projects, presentations, video/audio recordings, and practical learning sessions to meet the requirements of your course. This information will be included in your study pack detailing exactly what you need to do to accomplish your goals as a student.

Course Duration

You have up to 18 months to complete this course and we have included a suggested number of study hours. This is usually ample time for learners, even with full-time jobs and other commitments.

How is this course assessed or examined?

This course is assessed in two ways:

Tutor-marked assignments (TMAs)
Each unit is followed by a tutor-marked assignment (TMA) which will be completed at the end of each module and marked by your tutor.

You will not be required to take an external exam with this course as your portfolio of evidence is internally assessed by us and externally quality assured by the awarding body. The outcomes for each TMA are Achieved or Not Yet Achieved. Your tutor will provide feedback on your work, and should there be any amendments required, they will outline what is needed for you to complete that assignment.

Observation (included)
This course requires up to four observations. This means that somebody will need to observe you in practice. This could be in a workplace or a voluntary placement. These practical observations will be carried out by an Oxbridge Assessor (we’ll visit you) and that's included within the course price.

We offer up to four complimentary external observations for this course to any student on the UK mainland, which is enough to complete the course.

Course Outcomes

Upon graduation, you’ll attain fully-qualified status in the sector, as well as a license and the right to practice in the childcare workforce as an Early Years Educator.

Successful learners will be awarded a formal certificate of achievement by NCFE CACHE. The training courses have been designed specifically to meet the needs of learners who prefer to study from home. You can read more about CACHE here.

To successfully complete this course, you’ll have needed to achieve work placement time working with children aged 0-2, children aged 2-3, and children aged 3-5. This is because you need to demonstrate that you have and can work with children of all ages.

Once complete, you can progress into various job roles in the statutory, voluntary or private sectors such as:

  • practitioner in day nurseries
  • practitioner in nursery schools
  • practitioner in reception classes in primary schools
  • pre-school worker
  • home-based childcarer

The written/theory coursework can be completed from anywhere in the world, as long as you have internet access and a device to work from. There are 350 hours of practical volunteer/employment placement involved in the course. Bee asked:

What is minimum age to start this course? How many GCSES I need to pass to qualify for thia course, please?

Answer:

Hi there, there is no minimum age requirement for a GCSE, however, students usually begin their GCSE's aged 14. You would only need GCSE Maths and English to enrol onto this course. You could also do a functional skills equivalent. Functional skills is less time consuming and easier with regards to content. I hope this helps.

FAQs

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
