The course focuses on teaching students the fundamentals of accounting starting from the basics and upon completion of the course, students will be able to carry out book Keeping and understand accounting using the double entry system. The course also contains a payroll administration part which will help students learn about how the payroll system works in the UK.

  • You will be able to effectively use and apply the double entry system
  • You will be able to record transactions appropriately
  • Be able to carry out Adjustment and Trial Balance.
  • Be able to understand how to account for Provisions and VAT.
  • Understand how the UK payroll system works
  • Be able to correctly calculate National Insurance contributions
  • Be able to correctly calculate PAYE and understand the procedures
  • Understand auto enrolment
  • Submit payroll RTI reports
  • Be able to set up a payroll system using HMRC provided tools and other computer software such as Bright pay which is a strong payroll program.

Microsoft Excel training contains the following training:

  • Learn about all the basics functions of latest Microsoft Excel
  • Learn how to work with Data
  • Learn how to edit a worksheet
  • Be able to effectively Format a worksheet
  • Formulas and functions

  • Double Entry System: Students will be introduced to the accounting principles and the procedure of recording transactions. This unit covers areas such as account types and how to record transactions into such as the sales account, purchase account and cash book.etc.
  • Cash Basis Accounting
  • Accrual Basis Accounting
  • Accounting for Provisions
  • VAT and VAT return
  • Understand how the payroll system works
  • Governmental policies and laws
  • Starter and leaver
  • Calculation of NICS
  • Calculations of PAYE
  • Setting up a payroll system using HMRC provided tool Real time information
  • Introduction To Pension
  • Statutory payments such as maternity;paternity;adoption pay.
  • Payroll administration and overtime calculation.

Microsoft Excel training contains the following training:

To pass this course successfully, students will complete coursework on

  • Double entry
  • Single Entry
  • Preparing basic accounts such as trial balance reports; profit and loss; and the balance sheet ( this will be a computerised assignment on an accounting software)
  • Payroll assignment

Duration and Certificate of completion:

The course takes 50-60 hours to complete. Certificate will be awarded upon successful completion of the course. A certificate in accounts assistant.
