Advanced Certificate in Bookkeeping (CIB) students must study Advanced Bookkeeping prior to studying Final Accounts Preparation. Indirect Tax can be taken at any point within this qualification.

Advanced Bookkeeping (AVBK)

You'll learn how to apply the principles of advanced double entry bookkeeping. You'll learn how to manage non-current assets, prepare period-end adjustments and learn how to extend the trial balance.

Final Accounts Preparation

You'll learn how to prepare final accounts for sole traders and partnerships, identify alternative organisation structures, and examine the regulations governing company accounts.

Indirect Tax (IDRX)

You'll examine and apply VAT legislation requirements, complete VAT returns, study the implications of errors, filing and payment and finally how to report VAT related information.

Advanced Bookkeeping

Details

  • Learn to apply the principles of advanced double-entry bookkeeping
  • Understand how to implement procedures for the acquisition and disposal of non-current assets, as well as prepare and record depreciation calculations, record period-end adjustments, and produce and extend the trial balance.

Final Accounts Preparation

Details

  • Develop knowledge of specific financial recording and reporting requirements, as well as recognising key differences between preparing accounts for a limited company and a sole trader
  • Understand the need for final accounts and the accounting and ethical principles underlying their preparation, including how to prepare accounting records from incomplete information.

Indirect Tax

Details

  • Develop skills to accurately complete VAT returns, including understanding major and minor implications of submission, as well as reporting VAT-related information in accordance with regulatory and organisational requirements

Salaries vary from job to job and city to city, but a typical entry accounts role could see you earning between £16,000-£24,000. Over time you could see this rise to as much as £37,000 as you progress and gain experience.

Requirements

You must be 16 or over and be competent in Maths and English to apply at Level 2.

If you have previous accountancy experience or A-Levels, you may be exempt from some exams.
