The purpose of the role is to oversee and manage all aspects of the transport department including its assets and employees ensuring that a quality transportation service is delivered.
Main Duties include;
Manage and develop staff including training, appraisals, back to work interviews and disciplinary.
Interview, selection and recruit upon vacant driver positions.
Record and audit driving licences, HGV driver hours, analyse and audit tachograph records.
Investigate, discipline and record were infringements arise. Advise drivers on working hours and plan their working week.
Monitor spending to ensure that expenses are consistent with approved budgets.
Putting together performance reports and introduce new projects to improve Transport Department performance
Book agency staff, issue purchase orders and deal with invoice queries.
Monitor maintenance logs for vehicles and handling equipment.
Monitor and audit fuel usage, deal with queries and invoices.
Negotiate contracts with staffing, vehicle, equipment and material suppliers.
Other adhoc duties as required which may include driving when called upon.
Candidates would need to have a Transport Managers CPC
The client would be very interested in speaking to applicants from the events / catering supplies industry.
Applicants that have a Class 2 drivers licence and Tacho card would be desiable but not essential.
Applicants must also have strong transport management experience in managing at least a fleet of 10 vehicles.
Other requirements include ;
Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Power point and Outlook
Working geographical knowledge of the country, especially London
Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance
Monday – Friday 0700 – 17.00 (hours negociable)
Salary £40k Plus
