Transport Manager

Our client is one of the leading specialist providers of interior fit out services across the UK. The company has grown to become a market leader in their field and aspire to continue this development. They are currently expanding so they are looking for a Transport Manager to join their team in Manchester.

To manage the execution, and co-ordination of all transportation matters. This includes managing budgets, ensuring the vehicles are safe and meet legal requirements, and ensuring all drivers of company vehicles are aware of their duties and responsibilities. To ensure the right product is delivered to the right location on time. Ensure an understanding of the whole supply chain so that liaisons with suppliers, manufacturers installation drivers and customers are coordinated effectively.

The Role:

·Vehicle maintenance, including spot checks, cleanliness, servicing and repairs as necessary

·Ensure controls are kept with regards vans assigned to installation team members

·Manage stock transfers between Head Office, and Manchester/London warehouses

·Work with HR with regards planning, utilisation and controls re: absence, overtime and lieu time

·Vehicle hire as required, arranging livery, monitoring proper usage and damage identification

·Act as contact point for van hire provider

·Plan installation resources and activities in relation to company objectives and targets

·Highlight where additional/casual installation team are required in good time

·Use van-tracker information to analyse data, and make recommendations for efficiency

·Schedule runs in logical, achievable order, maximising the productivity of the installation team

·Seeking opportunity/monitoring the companies software statuses and other information in order to fulfil outstanding jobs as quickly as possible

·Oversee the loading of vans at end of day/morning to ensure the safe and secure transit of goods to delivery locations

·Reducing the potential for damage to stock and/or vehicles by the training, observation and education of installation team practices

·Liaising and negotiating with suppliers with regards most appropriate delivery times

·Promote positive motivation amongst the installation and warehousing team members
