My Hertfordshire based client is looking to recruit a Training & Development Manager on a full time permanent basis.

This global pharmaceutical company specialise in R&D, manufacturing, distribution and marketing of medicines. With more than 10,000 employees worldwide and a solid 75 year history in its field – this really is an exciting opportunity.

Purpose of the role:

• To support the business in delivery of commercial training at a local/international levels.
• To lead, develop and manage the Learning and Development provision, including:
o identification of training / development needs
o design and delivery of effective learning and development solutions and where necessary manage the outsourcing of the design and delivery of such learning solutions
o conduct robust post-course evaluation to ensure future learning is fit for purpose
• To have ownership of a learning and development speciality/package for the business in the allocated geographical remit e.g. product, therapy area, coaching and selling skills.
• Develop the allocated learning and development package, in partnership with relevant stakeholders, to ensure the interventions provided support the aims, objectives and commercial effectiveness of the business.
• Engaging with team members to effectively plan the required training and working with other senior leaders within the business to achieve a consistent implementation across the team.

Main Duties:

• Produce a resourced annual training plan and programme based on training needs identified
• Ensure training is developed in co-ordination with Medical Affairs, Marketing and Sales Management and is relevant to internal stakeholders both nationally and internationally.
• Ensure that the training provided supports the aims, objectives and commercial effectiveness of the business.
• Work closely with senior leaders to ensure effective and cost efficient development and delivery of commercial training and development to all employees in the geographical remit.
• Increase business and commercial knowledge to achieve business success and growth through training and development opportunities.
• Induction and Onboarding of new employees.
• Write, design, deliver and facilitate brand workshops (non-medical content) and validations and roll out standardised programmes that can be delivered as required.
• Utilise existing content where relevant to ensure consistency including launch training, diagnosis and cycle meetings.
• Responsible for localisation and approval of campaign/selling skills content and, where necessary, adapt such material to local market, approve at local level and translate and prepare briefing content for Managers and Sales Teams as required
• On-going diagnosis of training gaps and provision of appropriate training plan.
• On-going diagnosis and appropriate training plan creation for individuals’ needs.
• Work with local brand teams to design and deliver training for campaigns at 2 Cycle meetings per year.
• Work with Medical, Marketing etc in local launch team meetings to deliver launch plan training
• Conduct regular field visits to improve commercial effectiveness.
• Leadership and Management Training.
• Any other training identified from Commercial and Marketing plans.
• Co-promotion management: how to deal with commercial partners.
• Working in collaboration with Compliance to ensure training is delivered to CIPD standards and relevant Code of Practice.
• Support the improvement and maintenance of training matrices.
• Support use and implementation of Connect 2Learn.
• Financial reporting of budgets and targets etc.

Person Specification:-

• Degree or equivalent
• Excellent communication skills
• Sustained experience in pharmaceutical training
• Understanding of neurology
• First line sales management experience
• Marketing skills
• A team player
• Able to influence stakeholders in a matrix environment
• Project management skills
• Experience of managing external training agencies
• People management skills
• Ability to demonstrate the motivation to achieve challenging goals
