Many cases are won not just because of the work of an attorney alone. Part of it is also due to the efforts that a paralegal puts in behind-the-scenes before any case gets in the courtroom.
Think you have what it takes to be a paralegal or legal assistant and provide support to lawyers in handling increasingly challenging assignments? We’ve got the job for you.
One of the clients we are assisting is seeking for an individual to take on the paralegal or legal assistant role in their firm. They are looking for someone enthusiastic, hard working, and highly motivated, and preferably with a bachelor’s degree. Excellent communication skills, high attention to detail, and ability to demonstrate initiative, flexibility, and meet deadlines are also critical for this role.
A thorough training programme must be undertaken by the successful candidate as part of the on-boarding process. This is to familiarise the person with the work process and practices, hone his/her knowledge of the substance of the law and legal procedures, and enhance his/her ability to effectively provide limited legal services under the supervision and guidance of an attorney.
Our client also pointed out that the successful candidate should adhere to their firm’s privacy and confidentiality policies, as they sometimes handle sensitive cases.
They also noted that the following are among the responsibilities to be performed by the individual they will hire:
- Build knowledge related to firm and client cases and processes through research.
- Assist lawyers in preparing for hearing, trials, and transactional closings.
- Draft court documents, including affidavits, subpoena, pleadings, etc.
- Maintain client records and contact information
- Undertake administrative tasks, such organising and maintaining original documents; photocopying, scanning and filing documents; completing forms and producing letters
Aside from a competitive salary and quality benefits package, a positive working environment and supportive team awaits the successful candidate. Professional development through trainings and activities are also provided by the firm.
