Trading Data Analyst

A growing financial business based in Manchester City Centre are currently looking for a Trading Data Analyst to join their team.

The business has grown at a rapid rate over the last 12 months and are now at a stage where they want to put data at the forefront of their decision making - having recently hired a Lead Data Engineer to build a data infrastructure and data warehouse in the cloud in addition to rolling out Power BI.

The Trading Data Analyst will work alongside the Data Engineer and Trading Optimisation Manager in order to help the business gain informed decisions through the use of their data through Power BI report creation, SQL querying and ad-hoc analysis where necessary.

This will be a business facing role - with the ideal candidate being someone that is enthusiastic about data and wants to be an integral part of a company's growth strategy.

To be successful in this role, you'll need to have:
* Strong attention to detail skills
* Excellent data and statistical analysis skills
* Experience of building reports using software, preferably PowerBI
* Experience of writing code using software such as SAS, SQL, R or Python

Job responsibilities:
* Production of business analysis reports
* Ad hoc project work providing analysis to the business
* Write new analysis code using various software packages
* Produce timely and accurate information for management decision-making purposes
* Analyse business issues to find solutions to and make recommendations to improve profitability
* Present findings and results in a clear and logical manner and produce written reports

Qualifications
* Good degree in a numerical undergraduate discipline

Experience
* Strong background in statistical methods
* Experience of programming and advanced statistical techniques
* Desirable: Good knowledge of the general insurance industry, particularly home.

Skills
* Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to adopt a logical approach to solving problems
* Excellent data and statistical analysis skills
* Experience of building reports using software such as PowerBI
* Strong IT skills (including Excel and ideally programming skills)
* Good communication skills, both verbal and written
* Good time management and organisation skills

The role is offering a salary of up to £50,000 in addition to an array of benefits that include stock options. Whilst the business are based in Manchester City Centre, they are open to a hybrid working pattern or fully remote where necessary.
