Our client, a subsidiary of a market leading global business, are seeking a Finance Assistant to join and work within the finance team. You will be working in a commercially led position, interacting closely with the business.
What will be keeping you busy?
Tasks are varied and will involve many aspects of accounting, including ensuring purchase and sales ledgers are always up to date. You will carry out bank reconciliations and some credit control. You will look after petty cash, balance sheet reconciliations and VAT returns.
You will be responsible for ensuring financial processes are implemented and deadlines are met. In addition, you will also assume overall responsibility for prompt and accurate information. It will be your responsibility to ensure robust financial processes are in place to deliver accurate and timely month end and KPI reporting.
Who are we looking for?
The ideal candidate could be AAT qualified and currently studying for a further qualification, ie ACCA/CIMA or equivalent however you could also be qualified by experience and not studying. It is essential that you have "hands on" practical accounting experience, and be able to carry out a variety of responsibilities to complete daily/weekly/monthly and annual tasks and have the confidence in personality to work unsupervised.
Personal qualities to fulfil this role include excellent attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills. You will be a good team player but someone who can work with minimum supervision. You should be decisive whilst understanding where a situation/problem needs escalating to management. We are looking for someone with the ability to structure and prioritise their work. We want someone that will work with colleagues both in finance and non-finance personnel to ensure that deadlines are met. You will have excellent IT skills that should include strong Word and Excel experience. Knowledge of JD Edwards and Sage would be advantageous.
