Technical Laboratory Sales Specialist - Chemistry

An excellent opportunity for applicants holding a Chemistry degree, with at least two year’s post-degree laboratory experience, keen to move into a laboratory technical sales specialist role! Full sales and product training is provided, but drive and motivation to move into a customer facing role is essential.


The position is field-based, with around 4 days per week travel to customer sites and one day per week working from home. Occasional overnight stays will be required.

PRODUCTS: Viscometers, Chillers, Balances, Spectrophotometers, Photometers

CUSTOMERS: Industrial, Petrochemical, Food & Beverage, Clinical laboratories

TERRITORY: South UK (Ideally based between Birmingham and London)

Position Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain profitable sales within the designated region for the product line via maintaining and strengthening existing business relationships and develop new opportunities with potential customers.

Demonstrate equipment at customer sites.

Installation of equipment and support customers with training.

After sales technical customer support, including advice on equipment operation and provision of quotes for spare and consumables

Input all relevant data onto the company’s CRM database to ensure all customer information is recorded. Communicate market intelligence to relevant team internally.

Ensure excellent market knowledge including awareness of competitor activity and products.

Attendance at industry exhibitions, supplier training and sales meetings when required. This can involve occasional international travel.

Person Specification:

Science degree (BSc) or related discipline and experience using the products in the laboratory would be an advantage.

Technical knowledge of equipment used in general laboratories.

Post degree experience working in a laboratory is essential.

Experience working in a technical sales role (especially chemistry-related lab equipment) is preferred but not essential.

Dynamic, personable, organised and an excellent communicator.

Team focused and flexible to changing customer needs.
